Steve Jobs wannabies……

Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple and also had a company called Pixar Animation.Pixar launched their first animation movie called Toy Story from the stable of Disney.

Now Steve Jobs bio is the stuff legends are made of…he started Apple at 21;he launched Macintosh and spelled it wrong and thus distorted the spelling of this breed of apples forever.

Steve Jobs came to India in his quest to find himself and embraced Zen philosophy in his life.He was a fruitarian for a long time and fathered;disowned and nurtured a daughter named Lisa….although a project of the same name flopped.

 Steve Jobs seems to have had it easy but lets look at him and his work closely….

 Steve Jobs was not a techie..neither did he have a warchest of money to take care of the costs of  running a business..all he had was blind faith in his vision and the ability to take risk…he is/was a bad people manager…has his own brand of loyalty which was hard to decipher and was/is temperamental and childish at times….wanted/wants to rule the world…the question is did/will he succeed….?

 Well yes and no…he’s lost many a battles….ranging from losing his Place at Apple…thrown out by Scully…went and started NeXT with his innate belief in hardware…did not do too well with it….acquired Pixar…brilliantly turned it around with the help of people like John Lasseter….became a sort of Media Mogul..changed the music industry with the launch of iPhone…another elegant design which has ease of use and the ‘cool’ factor.

 Disney bought Pixar in 2006…Steve went on the board of Disney and made his desired dent in the entertainment universe….

 But his successes and failures are a unique mixture of personality;situation;society;technology and opportunities…

 What I find increasingly disturbing is young entrepreneurs putting Jobs on a pedestal and selling similar pipe dreams to other young people….most often than not without the technology focus;the vision and the stubbornness….

Even more alarming is middle aged executives behaving as rashly as Jobs when he was 21 and hoping to get away with it despite the acquired wisdom of age and experience…they lack the the ability to spot talent and end up becoming shallow images of a driven grass root founder with all his follies and brilliance…
